Planning a wedding can be tough. You have so many decisions to make and so many vendors to choose from. There are so many amazing photographers available, so it may be hard to narrow down who you want to capture your special day. Because of this near impossible choice, we created a list of 5 things to ask your photographer before booking them.
1. Can I see a full gallery?
You want to look at galleries that are related to what shoots you will use the photographer for. So if you are wanting them for engagements, bridals, and wedding day, make sure to ask to see a gallery for each type of shoot. This will show you their photo composition, how they pose their couples, and their editing style.
2. Can I see photos taken indoors or after dark?
Asking this question will help you see how they use flash and how they handle low light. It will also allow you to see their editing style on different lighting than the perfect golden hour light. Just as we said above, make sure to ask for photos related to the shoots you'll be using the photographer for.
3. How many hours of coverage are included in my package?
If you are planning to have a day long celebration, you want to make sure you will have someone there to capture all of the love and fun. Your photographer will have a set amount of hours that they will shoot. If that time does not cover your full day, make sure to ask if you can add more time to ensure you get your whole day captured.
4. What is your cancellation or reschedule policy?
Now more than ever, you need to make sure you ask this question. What if you get sick, or there are restrictions on gatherings, or you happen to call off the wedding? (We hope none of these happen to you). You need to make sure you can reschedule or cancel without losing too much money.
5. What is your turnaround time?
This is an important question to ask so you know when you can expect your photos. This is especially important for when you are scheduling engagements and bridals. For engagements you want to make sure you ask this question so you give yourself and your photographer enough time to shoot, get photos returned, printed, and either mailed off with announcements or framed for your big day.
Whether or not you choose us as your photo and video team, we hope you find these tips useful when planning your wedding!
